Creating an Asthma Action Plan may help you keep track of how well your asthma is being managed. And your plan can let you know what to do if it's not. By getting a peak flow meter reading, you can determine which zone you're in. Then you can rate your symptoms.

Together, you and your doctor can use your action plan to come up with a treatment strategy. So print out your Asthma Action Plan and bring it with you to your doctor.

Green Zone: Peak flow meter reading of 80 percent or better of your best reading Your asthma is probably well managed and your lung function is good: You are probably able to work, stay active, and sleep comfortably.
Yellow Zone: Peak flow meter reading between 50 percent and 80 percent of your best reading Caution: You may notice that your asthma symptoms, like wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and shortness of breath, may be getting worse. It's important to care for your asthma now, before you move into the red zone, and your symptoms worsen.
Red Zone: Peak flow meter reading below 50 percent of your best reading Medical alert: You're probably having trouble breathing and are experiencing a serious asthma attack. Take action immediately.

Important Information about ADVAIR DISKUS
Prescription ADVAIR won't replace fast-acting inhalers for sudden symptoms and should not be taken more than twice a day.
ADVAIR is for people who still have symptoms on another asthma controller, or who need two controllers. ADVAIR contains salmeterol. In patients with asthma, medicines like salmeterol may increase the chance of asthma-related death. So ADVAIR is not for people whose asthma is well controlled on another controller medicine.

Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of treating your asthma with ADVAIR. Do not use ADVAIR with long-acting beta2-agonists for any reason. If you are taking ADVAIR, see your doctor if your asthma does not improve or gets worse. Tell your doctor if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure. Some people may experience increased blood pressure, heart rate, or changes in heart rhythm. ADVAIR is for patients 4 years and older. For patients 4 to 11 years old, ADVAIR 100/50 is for those who have asthma symptoms while on an inhaled corticosteroid.
